History
North Bridge House Preparatory School, founded in 1939, is an independent co-educational day school for children between the ages of two years nine months and thirteen.
Foundation
Situated originally in St. John's Wood, the school moved to Netherhall Gardens in the 1950s. Re-organised in the early 1960s, it expanded rapidly until it became too large for its premises. The 6-8 year olds remained, as they still do, in Netherhall Gardens, while the Preparatory school moved into two Nash houses in Regent's Park. Finally, in 1987, new premises were acquired in Regent's Park to accommodate the Preparatory school.
Stepping Stone Nursery School, which was founded over thirty years ago, became one of the leading schools of its kind in North London. It was amalgamated into North Bridge House in 1987 to provide the opportunity for children to enjoy, from the earliest years, a gradual introduction into school life in the happy and friendly atmosphere characteristic of the main school.
