Pastoral Care

The welfare of every child is of vital importance and pastoral care incorporates every aspect of school life at North Bridge House. Although we are schooled in a large building the Prep is a close knit community and the staff and pupils have an excellent rapport.

From the time the children enter the school in Year 4 we have specific assemblies aimed at making the children feel secure and welcome. This will include discussing the schools approach to bullying, friendship issues and who to talk to when and if there are any concerns.

Across the Prep the form teacher will normally be the first person parents will contact to discuss any concerns. The house system encourages communication across the year groups and children who arrive during the course of a school year quickly settle in to life at the school.

Every year the school will carry out a whole school survey of the children relating to pastoral matters and in the school council the pupils have the opportunity to voice any concerns or opinions of school life in general.

Pastoral issues are also an integral part of the curriculum in the Lower Prep and Life Skills topics covered in Year 4 onwards include: Friendships, health, rights and responsibilities and the role of individuals in the community.

Our doors are always open to discuss your child's progress or any concerns arising. We will investigate any issues thoroughly and fairly. At all times we will keep the parents informed and we will monitor situations carefully once matters have been resolved.
