Senior School

Senior School

The Senior School takes pupils at age eleven through to age sixteen. Entry to the Senior School is normally at age eleven but if space is available, some pupils may join at twelve or thirteen years. If a pupil wishes to join the senior school from the prep they are expected to sit the entrance exam in either Year 6 or occasionally Year 8. An automatic place cannot always be guaranteed.

Pupils leave after Year Eleven and go on to a variety of sixth form colleges and schools including Highgate, City of London School, Camden School for Girls, Channing and Woodhouse.

All candidates will need to have, or be ready to acquire, a positive attitude towards learning. A strong candidate would demonstrate a potential for 8-9 good GCSE passes: a less able candidate, at the very least 5.

All pupils will be asked to attend an assessment day where they will be made welcome and will be introduced to the life of the School. During the day, they will be tested in English and Maths and will do verbal and non-verbal reasoning papers.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided and a session is held at the end of the day for candidates to make comments on their visit and to ask any questions they may have.

The candidate will be expected to attain average, or above average scores in the Admissions tests. However, previous teaching, possible EFL or mild SEN will be taken into account.

The student should be tidy in appearance, be courteous and should present well at the interview stage. They should also be able to interact with others in a responsible and respectful manner, so as not to deter others from learning.
