Physical Education and Sport
From Nursery age the children attend gym lessons. From Year One they have a gym session, outdoor sport and swimming every week.
In the Prep it is our philosophy to give our pupils many opportunities, in different sports, to:
- Participate and develop their own levels of expertise
- Build relationships in meaningful situations with others
- Increase their awareness of how their bodies work
In Year 4, 5 and 6 Girls the pupils have one physical education lesson and two games sessions a week. Year 6,7 and 8 Boys have two games sessions a week. These Games sessions are held in either nearby Regents Park, the gym or local sports centres.
The boys and girls will play a large range of sports including soccer, touch rugby, basketball, hockey, rounders, netball, cricket, table tennis, badminton, dance and athletics. There are house and school matches at all levels from Under 9 to Under 13, and sports tours to different parts of the UK. We have nets at Lords in the winter. Each year the children participate in the annual sports day normally held at a nearby sports stadium.
We have recently introduced B and C grade fixtures to our A team schedules, as we endeavor to give all of our pupils the chance to represent the school. The overall aim of these fixtures is to have pupils progressing in skill development and most importantly enjoying their sport, as to promote lifelong exercise habits.
