Parents' Association
The North Bridge House School Parent Teacher Association was set up in the nursery and junior branches group of parents and teachers in September 2006. Their aim was to bring something extra to the day to day experiences of the children, parents and teachers at NBH.
Since then the PTA has:
- Linked NBH with Ngilai School in the Samburu district of Kenya. The children have sent postcards and photos - our parents have raised money to build a dormitory (for the children who cannot walk the long journey home) plus buy bedding and desks. The next step is solar panelling to provide electricity
- Set up a form rep system to help facilitate the link between staff and parents
- Held a welcome coffee morning for parents of new children
- Held a quiz supper
- Run a photography competition for the children with an 'opening night' drinks party for their parents
- Held an auction which raised £7,000
- Helped introduce groups of parents who want to support the school in making positive changes (so far - traffic and food)
- Looked into developing the breadth of outings that are organised for the children
- Joined the NCPTA
- Signed and registered a constitution
It is still early days - the PTA is open to anybody who wants to be involved. The more people who are able to give some of their time, the more the PTA will be able to offer.
