North Bridge House A-Level Policy Statement

In September 2015, North Bridge House Canonbury’s A-level policy was that the majority of Year 12 pupils would study for three A-levels and the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) in the Sixth Form.  If a pupil achieved a minimum of 5 A* – A grades at GCSE they had the option of studying four subjects, although this was discouraged.

With regards to the non-reformed subjects; pupils sat AS levels in Geography, Modern Foreign Languages and Media Studies.  Those pupils studying A-level Mathematics sat just the Statistics 1 (S1) unit in June 2016 and will sit the rest of their units in June 2017.  Those pupils taking Further Mathematics sat all their AS exams in June 2016.

North Bridge House Canonbury’s predicted grades are based on a combination of factors:

  • Performance in the end of year internal examinations
  • Performance in AS examinations in non-reformed subjects
  • Continual assessment of pupil’s performance throughout the Sixth Form so far.
  • Heads of Faculties’ assessment of a pupil’s academic potential.
