North Bridge House Nursery and Pre-Prep West Hampstead will extend on our existing Early Years and Key Stage 1 expertise. Placed between West Hampstead and Kilburn stations, our newest school is in one of the most exciting parts of the capital. From independent cafes and restaurants to the local farmer’s market, this pocket of north-west London is a vibrant place for families to raise their children and for us to create the same warm and nurturing environment as has made our current Nursery and Pre-Prep Schools so popular and high-achieving.
We believe that happiness is the key to successful learning, particularly in the formative years of education, and are committed to providing our young children with an enjoyable learning experience, a curiosity for knowledge and a real sense of achievement. We will offer a broad and exciting curriculum, providing children with a fully rounded education and allowing them to develop a genuine love of learning, with flexi sessions for our youngest Nursery children to provide them with a sensitive transition into school life.
North Bridge House Nursery and Pre-Prep are happy, high-achieving schools in the heart of leafy Hampstead. Our pupils achieve above and beyond the national average and are well prepared for the next stage in their education, progressing from Reception having become confident mathematicians and able to read and write their own stories at just 5-years-old. By the end of Year 2 (Key Stage 1) in 2019, 54% of pupils performed in the top 4% of the country for English and 61% performed in the top 4% for maths.
Both schools have large playgrounds which facilitate the broad array of extra-curricular and sporting activities designed to spark curiosity outside of the classroom. Children’s inquisitive nature is further developed through caring for animals. The Pre-Prep's ‘Cluckingham Palace’ houses a variety of chickens, named by the pupils, while the school also welcomes a mobile farm every year. Children further benefit from a whole range of day trips and workshops, as well as weekly outdoor experience trips to Cuffley Camp, where they develop resilience, teamwork, self-confidence and communication skills.
North Bridge House Prep School is a striking building - a former convent - which provides fantastic on-site facilities and is ideally located next to Royal Regent’s Park, where pupils enjoy break times and regular sports sessions. Designed to stretch pupils further than in a junior school setting, the Prep School delivers a rich and varied curriculum together with outstanding extra-curricular opportunities, which fully prepare happy, confident pupils for entry to some of the country’s best senior schools - often gaining highly competitive scholarship places and academic awards.
Pupils receive bespoke, specialist teaching and preparation according to their individual strengths and interests and the senior schools for which they are sitting. We advise on and facilitate pupils either leaving the Prep School at the end of Year 6 (taking the 11+, the Consortium exam or going to one of the North Bridge House Senior Schools), or at the end of Year 8 (taking the Common Pre-Test exam, the Common Entrance exam or schools’ individual entrance tests).
Situated just above Hampstead’s bustling High Street, North Bridge House Senior Hampstead prepares students for GCSE success in the heart of London’s most famous village. Developing each pupil’s individuality and maximising their strengths is at the core of everything, and with our focus firmly on the whole child; their whole environment; and their well-being, our mixed ability cohort celebrates outstanding results. 2019 saw 55% Grades 7-9 across all subjects, 59% Grades 7-9 in Maths and 50% Grade 9 in Physics.
A modern building with stunning views across London, the school continues to evolve with the needs of its students. From state-of-the-art science laboratories to an impressive food technology room with purpose-built kitchens, a vibrant textiles room, not to mention the photography darkroom, it also houses an impressive sports hall with indoor badminton and basketball courts, cricket nets, a 5-a-side football pitch and an outdoor gym and table tennis tables.
Nestled behind the vibrant Upper Street, North Bridge House Senior Canonbury is a Grade II listed building over 500 years old that has been magnificently restored to provide a unique schooling experience. We are focused on guiding our pupils on the, not always smooth, journey from pre-teen to young adult, promoting student wellbeing and using evidence-based research to inform teaching methods and implement later start times for teens (in line with findings regarding the teenage brain and sleeping patterns). We celebrate impressive results year-on-year - 22% top Grade 9s at GCSE and 34% A*/A grades at A-Level in 2019 - and students gaining university places at a range of subject specialist, Oxbridge and Russell Group institutions.
We maintain small class sizes, allowing us to tailor our teaching to support and inspire every child within our diverse community. The school's prime north London location also facilitates our broad sporting curriculum, with students frequenting the best facilities for outdoor adventure and water sports, as well yoga, martial arts and fitness classes. All students are exposed to nearly 20 sports on the curriculum in Years 7 and 8, revisiting them in Years 9 and 10 to develop their skills and interests. Nearly all sports are then available at GCSE.
As parents you will rightly consider the cost of sending your child to private school. Here at North Bridge House School, we understand that parents want flexibility in the way they pay their fees. There are different options available to parents, from paying termly in advance by direct debit or if you would like even greater flexibility, monthly through the School Fee Plan.
Our school is part of Cognita which is an extraordinary family of diverse yet connected schools, spanning ten different countries.
