What is LAMDA?
North Bridge House is proud to offer LAMDA (The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) lessons, which are highly popular with our pupils and really help to develop their individual talent and self-confidence. LAMDA is a world-class drama and music school and a leader in graded examinations, setting the standard for speech, communication and drama around the world.
Lessons provide training in communication through speech and progress children towards a series of graded examinations in drama, poetry & prose. They aim to develop an appreciation and understanding of language and literature, helping pupils to express themselves passionately and articulately.
The acting syllabus is designed to develop the skills necessary to communicate dramatic text to an audience. Children have the opportunity to choose the pieces they wish to perform aided by their teacher, and the examiner will then assess their ability to speak/act selections and to discuss their work.
LAMDA is great fun for pupils who enjoy the arts, adding depth to interest as well as honing talent. Lessons are not only designed for budding performers however, and are an enjoyable way to build confidence in many girls and boys.
