North Bridge House Pupils Spice Up BBC Radio 2 with Mel C this Christmas Day
Choir children from North Bridge House Prep School will be heard on former Spice Girl, Melanie C’s BBC Radio 2 show this Christmas Day. Our young singers have pre-recorded two famous Christmas songs and their very own jingle for the radio station’s festive soundtrack, which will air between 4-6pm on 25th December.
Accompanied by their teachers and composer Miss Greenham, who wrote the children’s jingle especially for the Christmas Day show, 11 select pupils attended BBC Wogan House to record their tracks. The boys and girls from Years 6, 7 and 8 sang the much-loved Christmas classics, Walking in a Winter Wonderland and Silent Night, as well as the original piece.
Having hand-picked the children’s music for BBC Radio 2 this Christmas, Mel C also invited North Bridge House pupils to meet with her at the recording studios. She interviewed them about life at NBH and found out about their thriving music department:
“We have already performed some Christmas songs with many more of our choir members at Ashridge House, which is a beautiful and amazing building in Hertfordshire, and we have our Christmas concerts in St Mark’s Church this week,” they told her.
Mother to her own mini Spice Girl, Mel C was charmed by the enthusiasm of the NBH choir pupils and how excited they were for friends and family to hear them on her show – on such a special day of the year!
“I can’t wait to be live on BBC Radio 2 on Christmas afternoon this year… We’ll have handpicked music, great competitions and some surprise guests too.”
You can catch North Bridge House Prep School pupils performing their three festive songs on BBC Radio 2 from 4pm -6pm on Christmas Day.
