North Bridge House Senior Canonbury students celebrate GCSE achievements 2021
Students from North Bridge House Senior Canonbury are celebrating outstanding GCSE results today, with an overall 65% grades 7 or above (the equivalent of an ‘A’ or higher) – compared to 28.9% nationally – and 15% grades 9.
Despite a challenging 18 months for teaching and learning, the school upheld its high performance across a broad range of academic and creative subjects for another year running, with notable success in the languages department: 100% of students achieved grade 7 or above in all of Italian, Latin and Mandarin. A further 25% of students secured the top grade 9 in Spanish.
The school’s impressive number of high grades continued across science and the arts, with 84% and 89% of students achieving grades 7-9 in Biology and Physics respectively, 41% securing grade 9 in Art and 100% celebrating grade 8 (the previous A* equivalent) in Photography.
Overall, the high-achieving school saw 38% of all grades awarded at 8+ and almost a third of all students achieve straight grade 7s and above.
Top performing student Evie Claisse particularly excelled, achieving seven grade 9s and two 8s. Having secured the top grade 9 across the three sciences, English (Lit. and Lang.) and Maths, Evie is looking forward to progressing with her A Level studies in English, Geography, Maths and Physics.
North Bridge House Senior Canonbury student Nick Kazarina also saw top grade success, achieving Grade 9s in French, History and Music among his string of 7-9 grades.
Fellow high achiever Talia Kenan continued to highlight the school’s strengths in the languages and humanities departments, gaining six grade 9s in Art, English Language, French, History, Italian and Religious Studies as well as two grade 8s and three 7s. Talia is excited to continue her Sixth Form studies at North Bridge House Senior Canonbury further to the school’s impressive A Level results earlier this week.
Brendan Pavey, Executive Headteacher of North Bridge House Senior Schools, said:
“These are a truly wonderful set of results from a cohort of students who have been through a GCSE course like no other! The resilience and dedication that they have shown in order to do their very best has been remarkable. I could not be prouder of them and their teachers!”
