North Bridge House Senior School Students Celebrate A Level Results 2021
Sixth Form students from North Bridge House Senior Canonbury are celebrating another year of outstanding A Level results, having achieved an impressive 65% A*- A grades – significantly higher than the national average of 44.8%.
Despite a second year of challenging teaching and learning conditions for schools up and down the country, 100% of North Bridge House Senior Canonbury students achieved an A grade or higher in six subjects across the curriculum, and 90% of the school’s grades were a B or above.
While this year’s results were based on Teacher Assessed Grades submitted to the examination boards, North Bridge House students sat a complete set of in-school assessments over a period of two months to inform their final grades. Outcomes were then subject to a rigorous process of moderation and standardisation using extensive tracking and assessment data, which detailed students’ progress from their point of entry to the school.
Top performing student Harry Story achieved 3 A*s in Geography, Government and Politics and History, representing the school’s strength in the Humanities and securing him a place to study Geography at the highly competitive Durham University.
Outgoing Head Boy Andrea Agostini and Senior Prefect Mia Chai each achieved a D1 (the top Cambridge Pre-U grade, equivalent to an A**), an A* and an A, gaining entry to their first-choice universities. Mia will read Psychology at University College London and Andrea is embarking on a degree in Economics at the University of Edinburgh.
“I’m eternally grateful to North Bridge House for helping me achieve this incredible goal. I can’t wait to start my new journey,” said Head Boy Andrea.
The pair both celebrated success in Mandarin as well as the notoriously tough STEM subjects, with Andrea securing an A* in Maths and an A in Economics, and Mia achieving an A* and an A in Psychology and Biology respectively.
Assistant Headteacher and Head of Sixth Form, Mr Alex Margerison, comments on the success of the students:
“Our students should be very proud of their achievements. I am delighted to see so many of them moving onto such a wide range of opportunities and destinations, including some of the most sought-after courses at the very best universities. Our success across a broad range of subjects is a testament to the approach our teachers take to teaching and learning within our small class sizes; supporting each individual and stretching our top achievers – ensuring all students make the very best progress.”

Furthermore, the school secured 100% A* grades in Further Maths and Art, adding to its track record of both academic and creative success.

“These are a truly wonderful set of results from a group of students who showed fantastic resilience and determination during an incredibly challenging two years of study. We could not be prouder of everything they, and their teachers, have achieved despite the barriers that were put in their way! I am delighted for all of them; they thoroughly deserve their success!”
