Prep School Curriculum

The outstanding Prep School curriculum is praised by Ofsted, and more recently the Schools Inspectorate Service, for having a clear impact on teaching and pupils’ progress and helping to secure high standards in both. The curriculum aims to develop pupils’ general knowledge of a subject into a deeper understanding of its advanced concepts, and provide a complete experience of the academic, creative and physical fields of education.

All Prep School pupils benefit from a full, specialist-taught curriculum of:

from year 6

Computer Sciences

Life Skills

Year 6: 11+ and Common Entrance

From Year 6, girls and boys continue to thrive in a co-educational environment but are taught in single sex classes to facilitate the best preparation for their various exams.

Traditionally, girls are thoroughly prepared for the 11+ examination and for entry to a wide range of top London day schools, leaving the Prep School at the end of Year 6.

Meanwhile, our boys take on Latin and Greek, preparing for their Common Entrance tests at 13+ and for joining some of the most prestigious Senior Schools in the country. Their studies are also prime preparation for the curriculum at our two NBH Senior School campuses – North Bridge House Senior Hampstead and North Bridge House Canonbury – to which they have the option of joining subject to reference from the Head Teacher:

Although girls and boys are taught separately in preparation for the 11+ and Common Entrance, they still enjoy many extra-curricular activities together including sports, concerts, charity events, the school play and break times.
