Printmaking Beginner Course for Adults Starting 1 October
The course will begin with an introduction to a variety of printing techniques such as table top printing, monoprinting using paper cut outs and printing using found objects. With a playful and experimental focus on nature, pattern, texture and natural form students will be encouraged to try out new techniques and explore their own unique style.
Students will have the opportunity to explore the historic cyanotype printing process using found objects to make exciting and dynamic work, investigating the crossover between photography and printmaking. The method will involve the use of light-sensitive paper to make photograms of objects and other found materials.
The second part of the course will introduce students to the silkscreen printing process using paper cut-outs. This exciting printing technique will allow students to print multiples of their own designs applying several layers of flat colour using paper stencils.
An introduction to the reduction lino printing technique will support students in creating multi-coloured prints from one lino block. Students will gain an understanding of the reduction method and the process of planning to make a reduction print, learning how to layer and understand the application of colour in the printing process.
