Pupils Celebrate Fantastic GCSE Results at North Bridge House Senior School
Pupils and teachers at North Bridge House Senior School are thrilled to be celebrating another year of excellent GCSE results. Our overall pass rate of 95% A*-C grades in five or more subjects is the highest since expanding to our new site in Rosslyn Hill, Hampstead. Furthermore, a total of 90% for the same measure including English and Maths is a wonderful achievement for our academically non-selective School.
42% of all our grades were either A* or A – over double that of the 20.5% national average – with notable top mark success in Maths and Science, complemented by outstanding grades in the creative visual arts.
Amongst our students collecting 8 or more A*/A grades was Anna Sibson, who has made impressive progress since joining us in Year 9, achieving 5 A*s and 4 As. Anna’s GCSEs represent not only the breadth of our curriculum – rated ‘outstanding’ by SIS – but the depth to which each subject is taught, with her A* success in subjects ranging from Latin to Food Technology.
“I’m completely over the moon… Especially to have got full marks in English Lit and Language.” A delighted Anna continued, “English is my favourite subject and I’d like to thank my teacher, as I’m now looking forward to studying A-Level English at North Bridge House Canonbury, together with History and Psychology.”
Rada McNally Marchenkov – with straight A grades – agreed:
“The teachers at North Bridge House have really inspired the passion I have for my subjects. I’m excited to study Art, Spanish, History and Music at my top choice Sixth Form, but I haven’t decided which place to accept yet!”
Fellow high-achiever, Francis Carey gained 2 A*s and 8 As and is now looking forward to studying Biology, Chemistry, Spanish and English Literature at UCS.
“I’d like to pursue a career in Zoology; I enjoy Science both in school and as a hobby, particularly looking into different species of animal and aquatic life,” Francis explained.
Our outgoing and multi-talented Head Boy, Louis Pfeiffer was also delighted with an equal number of A* and A grades, including an A* in Maths and an A in Additional Maths – the highest grade attainable.
“I’ve got a Maths Scholarship at St. Marylebone Sixth Form.” Louis continued, “I’d like to do a degree in Engineering. I speak German and there are some really good German universities for Engineering.”
Alongside his academic studies, Louis thrived on our vibrant extra-curricular programme, winning House competition ‘Battle of the Bands’ and recording his original composition at the Roundhouse studio in Camden.
Mrs Masefield, Head Teacher here at North Bridge House Senior School, commented:
“I’m extremely proud to witness our pupils exceed their expectations yet again. Every year we have the joy of teaching an entirely different cohort, with varying abilities, interests and aspirations, and every year they work exceptionally hard to excel themselves as individuals. I’m delighted that each of our pupils has been inspired to succeed in a diverse range of subjects, highlighting the School’s creative strengths as well as our impressive academic core.
None of this would have been possible without our dedicated and inspirational teachers, and our productive, close-working relationships between the School and home.”
Mrs Masefield concluded,
“I wish our students the best of luck at their new Sixth Forms, including our own North Bridge House Canonbury. They deserve success as they embark upon their bright futures.”
