Science and Sandwiches: the Otters’ Sensory Experience

They may be the youngest year group in the school but the Nursery children get out and about just as much as their elder Pre-Reception and Reception peers. This week, the Otters swapped their Nursery classroom for the Garden at the the Science Museum and loved the outing from beginning to end.

The children had lots of fun exploring this new sensory environment; playing with water and investigating all different sounds and materials. The Garden is designed specifically for 3 to 6 year old children, allowing them to learn about floating and sinking, shadows and reflections – all through interactive play.

The children’s highlight of the day still had to be the lunchtime picnic; we do enjoy our sandwiches and sharing food with our friends at the Nursery! Even taking the school coach to and from the museum was a great experience and for some of the Otters class, it was their first time ever on a coach.

Children and staff thoroughly enjoyed the trip and had a lot of fun!
