Learning Support

Learning Support at Senior School

Support is available to students with learning difficulties as well as to those who may not identify themselves in this way, but who feel that they would benefit from additional support to aid their progression.

Our emphasis is on inclusion for all students at differing levels of ability. Types of learning support range from supporting students within the classroom to providing targeted programmes to advance specific literacy skills (such as how to structure their essays); individualised programmes to improve working memory, study skills, organisation and time management; and mentoring to help students gain self-awareness and confidence.

The SENCO is a qualified specialist assessor and there is a rigorous testing system in place to identify students’ learning needs and for making strong applications for special exam arrangements.

We aim to remove any barriers to learning so that all students can maximise their chances of success, not only in their A-Levels, but in their preparation for university and beyond.
