A-Level Results 2016

Two academic years after opening, we are very proud of our first set of A-Level results and our 100% pass rate, but most of all, our value added.

Our 2016 results saw many students exceed their ALIS predictions as well as their own expectations, evidencing Ofsted’s observation that ‘students make well above expected levels of progress over time’, and proving the value we add to pupils’ academic performance.

Results were particularly high in Maths and Science, with high achievers Melina and Will gaining straight A grades in these areas. Having studied Maths, Chemistry and Biology, Melina will now pursue a career in Medicine, whilst Will is looking forward to reading Economics at the University of Bristol, with his A grades in Maths, Further Maths and Economics.

North Bridge House Senior & Sixth Form Canonbury is an excellent and exciting addition to the educational landscape of North London and the new Ofsted report indicates that their first set of results, due in summer 2016, will be outstanding. Strong leadership and exceptional pastoral care is combined with academic ambition, and these straits are good indicators that North Bridge House is set to be a 5-star school on School Guide. We wish Jonathan Taylor and the pupils every success.

UCAS Guidance & Mock Interviews

A number of our outstanding teachers are Oxbridge graduates and have experience in interviewing candidates for Oxford and Cambridge universities. They are able to guide students throughout the university application process (UCAS), and provide additional mentoring for Oxbridge and Russell Group candidates.

Mock interviews give students the opportunity to practise their communication skills, testing their subject-specific understanding and personal statements. In subject-specific interviews, students complete a range of tasks designed to test their suitability for higher education, whilst personal statement interviews test students’ passion for their subject and knowledge beyond the A-Level syllabus. Sixth Formers then discuss how the interview went and receive helpful feedback and advice on the next steps to take.

NBH Canonbury also collaborates with other schools, exchanging knowledge with staff and inviting external students to practise their interview skills in an unfamiliar environment.

My interviews with Mr. MacPherson at North Bridge House were invaluable. The experience was enjoyable, yet challenging, as I was certainly pushed to my limits. The detailed feedback given to me after each interview allowed me to identify key areas for improvement, increasing my confidence in preparation for the real thing.
