An inspirational north London setting
Set in a unique Tudor building over 500 years old, North Bridge House Canonbury is an inspiring learning environment, complete with contemporary teaching spaces to meet the needs of students and staff.
Due to the historic nature of the building, our school is limited to 250 students, which provides a close-knit feel to our community. The quaint but spacious and well-equipped classrooms are surrounded by beautiful gardens, which students enjoy for outdoor learning as well as breaktime and recreation.
Nestled in Canonbury Square
Next door to the school is the famous Canonbury Tower, one of the oldest surviving buildings in Islington. The Tower was built sometime between 1509 and 1532 and has been home to Thomas Cromwell, chief minister to King Henry VIII, as well as scientist and philosopher, Sir Francis Bacon, and famous writer Oliver Goldsmith.
Today, students benefit from an exciting collaboration with the neighbouring Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art, where they are regularly welcomed to exclusively ‘takeover’ Exhibitions and where Sixth Form students enjoy gallery tours narrated entirely in Italian.

Beyond the square, students have the best of London at their doorstep.
Locally, our Sports Leaders assist with sporting lessons and events at a collection of primary schools, and our school raises funds and supports The Friends of Rose Bowl, an organisation that provides activities, resources and mentors for children in need in the area. They even visit area sites such as Keats House and Hampstead Heath as part of English and Science lessons.
Students also benefit from a short journey into central London to visit iconic locations such as the National Gallery, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, Royal Institution of Britain, Natural History Museum, National Portrait Gallery, Chinatown, Victoria and Albert Museum, and more.

NBH Canonbury has been innovatively designed to preserve the school’s rich history while making sophisticated use of Apple technology and modern facilities.
The school boasts specialist teaching spaces for Art, Drama, Music and Science, while the library, art gallery, quiet study area, and Sixth Form Common Room are popular spaces with our students.

World-class sports facilities
Students also take full advantage of the excellent sporting opportunities in the local area, frequenting world-class facilities such as the Lee Valley White Water Centre (London 2012 Olympic Games venue).
Our broad sporting curriculum benefits from our close proximity to the best facilities for outdoor adventure and water sports, as well as yoga, martial arts and fitness classes.
All students are exposed to 12 different sports on the curriculum in Years 7 and 8, revisiting them in Years 9 and 10 to develop their skills and interests. Nearly all those sports are then available at GCSE, with core sport still on the curriculum for students not taking PE as a GCSE option.

North Bridge House Canonbury is being a 7-minute walk from Highbury and Islington TfL/Overground station and less than 5-minute walk from Essex Road railway station.
We are also closely located to the 21, 263, 30, 19 and 4 TfL bus routes.
With our transportation links, students join us from across north, east and central London. We host families from areas such as Hampstead, Camden, Highgate, Hackney, City of London, London Docklands and even Essex.
