Enrichment and Extra-curriculars

Enhancing the curriculum

Our comprehensive approach to education extends far beyond the regular school day. We believe that nurturing confident, well-rounded individuals requires a diverse range of experiences. We offer an array of extra-curricular activities designed to develop not only academic skills, but also confidence, creativity and community spirit.

From our timetabled enrichment programme (for years 7 to 9) and regular school trips, to a wide variety of after school sports clubs, creative writing, foreign film and book clubs, our extra-curricular provision is designed to inspire and cultivate talents that extend beyond the curriculum.

Our commitment to providing an excellent extra-curricular offering is rooted in our desire to deliver a fully rounded and character-building education. Charity events and Student Council are popular and encourage student leadership, whilst our Pride Club and Student Wellbeing Ambassadors further contribute to our wellbeing programme and close-knit, supportive school community.

Our clubs timetable varies throughout the year, and each term brings new activities and seasonal sports, providing students with the opportunity to explore new interests, discover hidden talents, and broaden their skillset.

Our popular clubs & extra-curricular activities

Sport and fitness

At NBH Canonbury, we have a ‘sport for all’ ethos. Our wide range of sport clubs rotate on a termly / seasonal basis to ensure there is something which appeals to everyone and to develop varying skills and interests.

Charity and outreach

Students enjoy leading on and participating in a range of charitable events, such as cake bake sales, our annual Battle of the Bands and Fun Run, and celebrations such as World Book Day which raise awareness for our local charity partner, the Friends of Rose Bowl, a centre for underprivileged youth in Islington.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award

Other activities are designed to develop essential skills for life and work, such as DofE.

Performing arts

The performing arts make for a truly vibrant environment at NBH Canonbury Senior School and there are many extra-curricular opportunities in acting, musical theatre, production & technical arts.

“Pupils have a good measure of success in extra-curricular activities, with some pupils’ achievements being considerable for their ages, particularly in art and drama.”
