Our approach to Higher Education and Careers

University Preparation

From the outset of Sixth Form, students receive expert, individualised support with their university applications. Our guidance is not limited to the UCAS process — we ensure students are fully informed about their course options, degree choices, and potential career routes.

Support includes:

One-to-one UCAS and course guidance
Personal statement workshops and feedback
Interview preparation, including Oxbridge-style subject interviews
Mentoring from Oxbridge alumni and staff with interview experience
Access to the Xello careers platform for independent exploration
Talks and advice from industry professionals through our 'World of Work' initiative

World of Work initiative

Our careers programme empowers students to make informed, aspirational choices about their future. As part of our World of Work initiative, students are introduced to a broad range of industries through visiting speakers, Q&A sessions with professionals, and tailored guidance on different career pathways.

Whether interested in law, medicine, tech, the arts, or entrepreneurship, Sixth Formers are supported to map out their next steps and gain insight into what working life entails. They also build essential workplace skills such as communication, time management, and professionalism, preparing them for university and beyond.

Community Engagement

Our students develop a genuine understanding of the world beyond the classroom. Sixth Formers take part in international trips to cultural hubs such as New York, Berlin, and Rome, as well as cultural exchanges and local outreach projects, all of which foster independence, empathy, and a global outlook.

Many continue to contribute to the school community through leadership roles — running clubs, coaching younger pupils, or leading Student Wellbeing Ambassador initiatives. These experiences promote maturity, collaboration, and a sense of purpose that stays with them far beyond school.

Careers Fair

Our new annual Careers Fair brings together parents and alumni working across a range of industries, from law, architecture, and marketing, to consultancy and the arts, to share their professional journeys and advice.

While the event is open to the whole school, it holds particular value for Sixth Form students as they begin making informed decisions about university courses, future careers, and the paths that connect the two. It’s a unique opportunity to hear first-hand from professionals, ask meaningful questions, and explore what their future could look like beyond school.
