Impressive grades year-on-year.

Since opening in September 2014, North Bridge House Senior Canonbury has established an impressive track record of GCSE and A Level results. Our students secure university places at leading Russell Group destinations, including Oxford and Cambridge, Bristol, Cardiff, Durham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, King’s College London, Leeds, Liverpool, Queen Mary University of London, Sheffield, UCL and York.


Students also gain entry to renowned Arts and overseas institutions, such UAL: Camberwell College of Arts, Royal Academy of Music, Haverford College and Loyola Marymount University.

Sixth Form students at North Bridge House Senior Canonbury in Islington are celebrating superb A-Level results, having achieved 32% A*- A grades.

The class of 2023 achieved highly across a broad range of subjects, securing 100% A*-B grades in Art, Spanish, French, Geography, History, Politics, Classical Civilisation and English Literature.

Overall, 81% of grades achieved were A*-C, with the most notable success in Art and Modern Foreign Languages; 100% of grades awarded in Art were A* and 100% of those awarded in French and Spanish were A.

Top performer Sophie Lee achieved incredible results in STEM, with A*s in Chemistry and Maths and As in Biology and Further Maths. She is delighted to have secured entry to the London School of Economics to read Financial Mathematics and Statistics.

NBH Senior Canonbury’s class of 2023 are delighted to have secured places at a range of prestigious Russell Group institutions, including Exeter, Leeds, Loughborough and York. Students will pursue degrees in a range of academic and creative disciplines, ranging from Classical Studies and Philosophy to History, Psychology, and Mechanical Engineering.

GCSE results 2023.

Students celebrated excellent GCSE results, with an overall 42% grades 7 or above, with notable success in STEM, including 100% grades 8 and 9 in Further Maths and 80% of grade 7 or above in Computer Science.

In the arts, 100% of students achieved a 7 or above in Music and 67% of students achieved a 7 or above in Drama.

83% of students achieved a 7 or above in Chinese and 71% achieved this A equivalent or higher in French, continuing the schools' success in modern foreign languages.

Top performer Xianglian You celebrated a string of top grades, with 9's in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Chinese.

A Level results 2022.

Sixth Form students at North Bridge House Senior Canonbury celebrated another year of impressive A Level results, achieving 67% A*-B grades.

Despite a challenging couple of years due to the pandemic, with this summer’s exams having been the first formal examinations sat by the Class of 2022, 100% of North Bridge House Senior Canonbury students achieved A*-B grades in eight subjects across the curriculum, with notable success in the languages.

Top performing student Thomas Hunt achieved an A* in Fine Art, an A in Geography and an A in Italian, securing a place to study at the world-renowned arts and design college, Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London.

Overall, the school achieved a clean sweep of 100% A*-B grades across Chemistry, Chinese, Economics, English Literature, Fine Art, Geography, History and Italian.

All members of the school’s 2022 cohort secured places at their first-choice universities, to study degree courses including International Relations and Law, Pharmacy, Psychology, Social Policy and Speech and Language Therapy.

GCSE results 2022.

2022 saw North Bridge House Senior Canonbury students achieve an impressive set of GCSE results, with 57% grades 7 and above (the equivalent to A and A*) – compared to 27% nationally - and 15% top grade 9.

The school saw notable success in the sciences: 79% of students achieved grades 7-9 in both Chemistry and Physics and 71% achieved grades 7-9 in Biology.

The school’s success continued in the arts and languages, with 92% and 60% securing grade 7 or above in Art and Design and Chinese respectively. A further 67% of Year 11 students secured a B or higher in AS Level Spanish since the school is a year ahead with its modern foreign languages programme.

Overall, North Bridge House Senior Canonbury saw 38% of all grades awarded at 8+ and over half of all students achieve straight grade 6s or above.

A Level results 2021.

Sixth Form students at North Bridge House Senior Canonbury celebrated another year of outstanding A Level results, achieving an impressive 65% A*-A grades. 90% of the school’s grades were a B or above.

Top performing student Harry Story achieved 3 A*s in Geography, Government and Politics and History, securing a place to study Geography at the highly competitive Durham University.

Overall, the school achieved 100% A*-A grades across English Literature, Latin, Mandarin and Music, highlighting a real strength in our languages department. Furthermore, we secured 100% A* grades in Further Maths and Art, adding to our track record of both academic and creative success.

Many NBH Senior Canonbury students gained places to study at their first-choice universities, including top Russell Group and creative institutions such as University of Bristol, Durham University, King’s College London, University of Liverpool, University of Sheffield, University College London, University of York, and Royal Academy of Music.

GCSE results 2021.

North Bridge House Senior Canonbury students celebrated another year of outstanding GCSE results, with an overall 65% grades 7 or above (the equivalent of an ‘A’ or higher) – compared to 28.9% nationally – and 15% at grade 9.

The school saw notable success in the languages department: 100% of students achieved grade 7 or above in all of Italian, Latin and Mandarin. A further 25% of students secured the top grade 9 in Spanish.

The school’s impressive number of high grades continued across science and the arts, with 84% and 89% of students achieving grades 7-9 in Biology and Physics respectively, 41% securing grade 9 in Art and 100% celebrating grade 8 (the previous A* equivalent) in Photography. Overall, North Bridge House Senior Canonbury saw 38% of all grades awarded at 8+ and almost a third of all students achieve straight grade 7s and above.

Top performing student Evie Claisse particularly excelled, achieving seven grade 9s and two 8s, securing the top grade in the three sciences, English (Lit. and Lang.) and Maths.

A Level Results 2020.

Sixth Form students at North Bridge House Senior Canonbury celebrated their highest A Level results to date, having achieved an outstanding 68% A*- A grades despite this year’s challenging lockdown circumstances.

With a huge 40% A* grades overall and half of all students scoring straight As or higher, the school outperformed the national average of 9% A* grades.

Overall, NBH Senior Canonbury achieved a clean sweep of 100% A*-A grades across Chemistry and Maths and 100% A* grades in Further Maths and Art, highlighting the school’s strength in both academic and creative fields.

Many NBH Senior Canonbury students (including those from last year’s cohort who opted to take a gap year) secured places at their first-choice universities, including top Russell Group destinations such as Cambridge, Oxford, Cardiff, Leeds and Queen Mary University of London.

GCSE Results 2020.

North Bridge House Senior Canonbury students achieved highly impressive GCSE results despite the challenge of lockdown, with an overall 66% achieving Grade 7 or above (the equivalent of an ‘A’ or higher) and 24% making the top Grade 9.

The school upheld its high performance across a broad range of academic and creative subjects for another year running, with 86% and 100% of students achieving Grades 7-9 in Physics and Art respectively.

North Bridge House Senior Canonbury’s impressive number of high grades continued across science and the humanities, with 36% Grade 9 in both Biology and History and 29% in Geography.

Overall, 47% of all grades awarded were 8+ – the previous A* equivalent – which is particularly high for an academically non-selective school.
