North Bridge House Senior Hampstead celebrated outstanding GCSE results, despite the negative impact of the pandemic seen on GCSE grades in England this year. 51% of all grades were 7 and above (the equivalent to A and A*) – compared to 27% nationally - and 17% of grades were the very top 9.
The school upheld its high performance across a broad range of academic and creative subjects for another year running, with remarkable success in the sciences: 68% of students achieved grades 7-9 in Physics, 59% achieved grades 7-9 in Biology and 58% achieved this equivalent to A and A* in Chemistry.
The school’s impressive number of high grades continued across the notoriously tough STEM subjects, with 58% of students achieving grades 7-9 in Maths (Higher) and 47% in Computer Science.
Overall, an impressive 32% of all grades were awarded at 8+.

Adding to top results in STEM
North Bridge House Senior Hampstead celebrated an impressive 69% grades 7 or above (the equivalent of an ‘A’ or higher) – compared to 28.9% nationally – and 25% top 9 grades.
The school upheld its high performance across a broad range of academic and creative subjects for another year running, with remarkable success in the sciences: 53% of students achieved the top grade 9 in Biology followed by 47% in Physics and 40% in Chemistry.
The school’s impressive number of high grades continued across the technology and languages departments, with 40% of students achieving grade 9 in Food and Nutrition and 38% in French.
Top performing student Lara Wall particularly excelled, achieving straight grade 9s in all nine of her subjects. Fellow North Bridge House Senior Hampstead students Shahnoor Babar, Aran Paskaralingam and Daisy Ellis-Thompson were also ‘on cloud nine’, securing eight, seven and six grade 9s respectively.

Regardless of this year’s lockdown, the school upheld its outstanding performance in the sciences for another year running, achieving a remarkable number of Grade 9s: 46% in Biology and 43% in both Chemistry and Physics.
Also known for its strong visual arts department, North Bridge House Senior Hampstead scored 91% and 82% Grade 7+ in Art and Photography respectively.
Overall, 44% of all grades awarded were 8+ – the previous A* equivalent – which is particularly high for an academically non-selective school.
Top performing student Lucas Chow particularly excelled, achieving nine Grade 9s and an 8 in addition to the A* he had already gained in French. Having secured the top Grade 9 across English, Maths, Further Maths, Music, Computer Science, 3D Design and the sciences, Lucas is the school’s highest ever achieving student.
Fellow high achiever and Head Girl, Soha Adour secured an exceptional eight Grade 9s and an 8, as did Edward Wright. The pair, like Lucas, both celebrated success in French, highlighting the school’s strength in languages and contributing to the 85% of 7+ grades in this subject.
