Nursery & Pre-Prep Curriculum

Early Years Foundation Stage (ages 2-4).

Our Nursery, Pre-Reception and Reception year groups follow the Early Years Foundation Stage framework: seven areas of learning and development that are inter-connected and designed to spark children’s curiosity and love of learning, in preparation for their lifelong educational journey.

At North Bridge House Nursery and Pre-Prep West Hampstead, we deliver the EYFS curriculum and so much more. Our top-rated Nursery School provides a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for our little learners to explore beyond the EYFS curriculum, gaining a wider, socially and emotionally enriched learning experience.

Learning is directed through discovery and investigation and the children benefit from a wealth of outdoor learning opportunities, enjoying lessons in the sheltered garden area when not at Forest School.

Specialist teaching in French, Italian, Music & Dance, and PE enhances the children’s personal development as well as academic progress, encouraging them to express themselves confidently and creatively.

Our two wonderful immersive spaces use 3D technology to bring learning to life, integrating virtual content with the physical environment to create an interactive educational experience.

The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum covers:

Our daughter is learning yoga, ballet and French, doing after-school activities including cooking and gardening, and exploring the great outdoors through Forest School. This is so much more than I would expect from a pre-school.

Key Stage 1

Years 1 and 2 (ages 5-7).

As children progress to Key Stage 1 and their Pre-Prep years, we continue to build on the core curriculum with specialist teaching and progress-enhancing initiatives.

The national curriculum is directed at greater breadth and depth of study, introducing refined subject fields such as art, computing, science, PSHE and RE. We continue with our focus on the direct teaching of reading, writing and mathematics, while our subject specialist teachers deliver lessons in French, Italian, music and sport.

Maths is taught from a practical perspective, with a focus on problem-solving, depth of knowledge and mastery; embedding key skills that children can apply in a range of contexts.

Our KS1 curriculum is ultimately designed to ensure not only the academic achievement of our pupils, but their all-important personal development too, setting them up for an excellent school career and progression to our high-achieving Prep School.
