Welcome to Senior Canonbury.

At North Bridge House Senior Canonbury, we are on a constant journey of getting to know every student as an individual; because we understand that success is not just about academic achievement, but also about every child finding and realising their true personal potential.

From ages 11 to 18, we take a personalised approach to ensuring our students’ success, placing their needs and interests at the heart of school life. We deliver an academically rigorous, character-building education using research-informed teaching methods, which are differentiated to stretch and challenge every pupil within a supportive environment.

Our focus is on understanding the whole child, enriching their whole school experience, and promoting their wellbeing, to ensure that every pupil finds a direction in life that truly reflects their unique talents and personality – so they are set on a clear journey, to find their True North.

Knowing the individual.

We pride ourselves on really getting to know each individual child on their journey to becoming well-rounded people as well as academics, adopting a ‘high support, low pressure’ model to help every student achieve more than they believe possible.

Fostering academic excellence.

We are very proud of our impressive track record of GCSE and A Level results – celebrating 57% grades 7-9 at GCSE and 67% A*-B grades at A Level in 2022 – and the range of Oxbridge, Russell Group and renowned arts and overseas institutions at which our students secure places.

Cultivating character and promoting wellbeing.

Facilities & Location

Prime North London location.

Close to Islington’s vibrant Upper Street and a stone’s throw from the leafy gardens of Canonbury Square, North Bridge House Senior Canonbury occupies a beautiful Grade II listed building surrounded by rich local heritage. From the literary and artistic greats who lived and worked in the area – including George Orwell, Evelyn Waugh and Samuel Phelps to name but a few – to the historical figures who settled in the adjacent Canonbury Tower – notably Sir Francis Bacon, Thomas Cromwell and Oliver Goldsmith, after whom our school Houses are named – our school environment is inspired by a wealth of educational history.

Over 500 years old, the school building has been beautifully restored to provide a unique schooling experience. Contemporary teaching facilities include specialist rooms for Art, Drama, Music and Science, bringing our broad and creative curriculum to life.

GCSE class was fast paced, interactive and lively. Skill set already way beyond GCSE level and trusting rapport between teacher and pupils striking: no one was afraid to speak up or make a mistake – perfect language learning dynamics.
